Review of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - final version - published October 25, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Since Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is on sale already...
.... first reviews of final units (and not some engineering samples) are appearing, like this one: The camera on the device is good, as is the camera software. I feel like i've been a little spoilt by the Samsung Omnia's EXCELLENT camera implementation, compared to which the X1's implementation pales slightly, but it is still a good effort, and better IMHO than on HTC devices. The touch based spot focus (touch an area in the picture you want to focus on) works very well and is quite unique. The flash is as so-so as you would expect, but better than nothing! The camera software offers VGA video recording (sample below). To learn more, visit review of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Commentary: the review above is not mentioning the lack of the tilt sensor, but apart from that it is pretty much in-depth and worth reading by anybody who considers purchasing a Windows Mobile phone nowadays. Obviously many Windows Mobile fans already know that HTC Touch HD will be the kind of the hill, when it comes to Windows Mobile very soon (it goes on sale first half of November 2008 = next month) but if you really need physical keyboard then X1 may be for you.
