Palm snatches HTC employee November 04, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. A guy who worked for HTC, recently has left HTC and is now working for Palm... Paul Ghent was working previously at HTC Europe (based in UK) but now is working as vice president of sales at Palm Europe (also based in UK). * * * * * Since some handsets branded and sold by Palm are being manufactured by HTC, there is no surprise in this move and probably it was not a hostile change. This move may come in handy for Palm, because Palm is losing consistency (QWERTY keyboards for 800w and Treo Pro are different) and value-added features are diminishing (software add-ons to Windows Mobile), so clearly some change is needed at Palm. Obviously Palm is working on their new operating system based on Linux - Nova - but the reality is now that main operating system in top of the range Palm Treo phones is Windows Mobile. Furthermore Palm will have it very difficult to convince users to use yet another Linux variant while many (!) manufacturers of smartphones are standardising on Google Android (also powered by Linux)...
