Internet Explorer Mobile 6 coming to China Mobile first November 18, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. How come Chinese get it first from? Well, they have the biggest mobile operator in the world. And it is "Internet Explorer Mobile 6" (new browser for Windows Mobile with desktop-class rendering engine) and not "Internet Explorer 6" (old browser for Windows XP) as some publications report it... 
(on photo above: former boss of Windows Mobile - Pieter Knook - talks to managers of China Mobile during Mobile World Congress 2006) This week Mobile Asia Congress - a local version of Mobile World Congress organized by GSM Association - takes place and Microsoft used this opportunity to cook a deal with China Mobile: Scott Rockfeld, Microsoft's director of Windows Mobile, mobile communications business, told ZDNet Asia over the phone Tuesday, China Mobile intends to make Internet Explorer (IE) 6 for Windows Mobile available to its customers on its Samsung Omnia phones. China Mobile was chosen as the first operator to get mobile IE6 because the software giant hopes to tap the vast growth in the number of new mobile users in the country, Rockfeld said.
