Microsoft releases mobile version of Seadragon for iPhone BEFORE releasing it for Windows Mobile December 14, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. Obviously Microsoft's research unit "Live Labs" does not hold Windows Mobile in high regard, because they have released Seadragon Mobile - a kind of image browser - to iPhone but no version for Windows Mobile is available at all. What does it say about Windows Mobile if other Microsoft divisions don't bother using it? Here is how this program looks like (in iPhone! note "Microsoft" on the splash screen!):
More info: Get the goodness of Seadragon on your iPhone! Browse large quantities of high-resolution imagery smoothly and quickly with a flick or a pinch. Explore massive galaxies, pore over maps, or flip through collections of photographs, all over the air. You can also add your own photos or browse those already available on Photosynth.com. FEATURES: - View thousands of images over the air - Quickly view massive gigapixel images - Explore Photosynth collections in 2D, including your own - Add your own PhotoZoom / Deep Zoom Composer content - Subscribe to Deep Zoom RSS feeds Released as a tech preview, Seadragon Mobile is designed to show off the 'what if?' of mobile user experiences. Expect more cool stuff from Live Labs in the future at http://livelabs.com. To learn more, visit livelabs.com/seadragon. Commentary: no matter how many nice phrases people from Windows Mobile division of Microsoft will use, these are facts/deeds that speak for themselves. Anyway the first program of Microsoft for iPhone is out and if Microsoft will continue it - releasing software for iPhone WITHOUT releasing previously a version for Windows Mobile, then we will be forced to advise people to simply buy an iPhone. If Microsoft itself is not believing in Windows Mobile, why should end users believe in it?
