O2 UK discriminates against Windows Mobile December 15, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Long time ago it was actually British operator O2 that was offering the first Windows Mobile phone - so called "Xda" that was launched long before Orange UK launched "MS Smartphone" (Orange SPV). However these times are gone: O2 is now owned by Spanish company Telefonica and now O2 UK is de-facto anti- Windows Mobile: ... because it is offering on Pay & Go (prepad kit) an unlimited WiFi add-on (called at O2 "bolt on"), but only for iPhone users: If you're using an original iPhone with a Pay & Go SIM card, you can add the O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On for £10 a month giving you unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi access on your iPhone*. You can opt into the Bolt On by:
Note: O2 is also offering an excellent phone "O2 Xda Zest" (the last in the long line of "Xda" phones from O2) but unlimited Wi-Fi on prepaid SIM card is not available for this phone unfortunately, despite the fact that this phone also is equipped with it. See also: product page of O2 Xda Zest. Commentary: Microsoft and its partners that license Windows Mobile must now face not only Apple, but also hostile approach of mobile operators. These are very challenging times for Windows Mobile!
