The plot thickens: the role of Musiwave in Zune expansion plans revealed December 21, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. The rumor has it, that Microsoft plans to expand Zune services to Xbox, to Windows Mobile, and probably more... Through some job postings of Microsoft it transpired that French company Musiwave acquired by Microsoft (for $46 million) will play a role in future Zune expansion plans: "Zune Services is building an entertainment store for a wide range of Zune clients or 'tuners,' " reads a Dec. 2 posting for a Web services development job. "Today these tuners include the Windows PC client, the Zune web site and the Zune device; in the future there will be more. Each of these tuners access a set of rich web services implemented by Zune and soon by Musiwave as well." To learn more, visit article about role of Musiwave in Zune expansion. Commentary: there is a lot new things coming up in Microsoft mobility in near future from Microsoft: Zune services for Windows Mobile, Zune Phone, Project Pink, Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Mobile 7, Skymarket (i.e. Windows Mobile app store), Internet Explorer Mobile 6... but it is not quite clear when exactly most of these things will be ready and delivered to hardware manufacturers. Considering that in year 2009 more than 50 phones powered by Google Android will be launched, it may be "too late"...
