The rumor has it, that already in January 2009 a wave of massive layoffs at Microsoft will start: Just heard on the finance grapevine. MSFT layoffs are coming on January 15th. They are substantial. And it is absolutely in all divisions, including Windows Mobile. With naked eye, without the need to use market research companies like Jupiter Research, one can notice that iPhone has beaten Windows Mobile badly in latest 2 years, so performance of Windows Mobile was poor. It is obvious and cannot be denied. The question now is: what will be consequences for Microsoft employees working on Windows Mobile? It is worth noticing that in year 2009 situation for Microsoft will get much more difficult and this time not because of Apple, but because of Google - because many models of smartphones powered by Google Android will be unveiled, and manufacturers simply will be switching to Google Android (free, made by number one Internet company) from Windows Mobile (not free, made by company that does not care about consumers too much as deeds has shown it - we don't care about words and empty promises at all).
