No layoffs at Microsoft after all - yet January 01, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Recently we were reporting about massive layoffs at Microsoft coming this month and we noted that removing deadwood (inefficient employees) would be useful also in Windows Mobile division but... ... but apparently it will not be Microsoft employees that will be fired, but contractors and vendors. Anyway since Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft is coming to Mobile World Congress (formerly known as 3GSM) next month (what he very rarely does) and he is even present in Microsoft press conference, so not only some major announcements about Microsoft mobility are coming soon, but also it looks like now CEO is more interested in mobility. After all now many people buy Mac computers just because of popularity of iPhone and lack of appealing offering in mobility, is now hurting also other Microsoft divisions! Furthermore year 2009 will be breakthrough year for Google Android because many new Google Android phones will be released and market share of Windows Mobile will be dropping in all segments of the smartphone market. Having a job at Microsoft means total job security and no need to worry about performance of your product/service. It looks like it is not changing yet. Unfortunately.
