Nitrogen for Windows Mobile released - new FREE finger-friendly MP3 player January 04, 2009 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. "458This player is written with native code, so it is fast and responsive - unlike some other players writtein in .NET and it also uses its own MP3 decoder so it is a genuine MP3 player and not just a thin wrapper around Microsoft's inefficient player control!
This player has several interesting features, including equalizer and is finger friendly: Microfi Nitrogen is a native Windows Mobile application (unmanaged code) that allows you to play MP3 songs stored on your Pocket PC device. It features a file browser, full skin support, "Shuffle" and "Repeat" modes, a built-in sleep mode and a command to blank screen to prevent energy waste while playing music. Nitrogen was build due to the lack of finger-friendly players for Pocket PC (you have to use stylus even for simple tasks). It features large buttons and you can browse among your playlist by drawing circles on the screen (tapping in the appropriate space). In future releases the program will be expected to have an equalizer and other extensions support, but such things are still being tested to ensure stability and efficience. As you can see above, we have tested it and it is indeed very nice and very responsive. The wheel in the middle allows also for fast access to various MP3 files and fast forward function works very well also with finger. The only gripe about this player, that we have is: it is not showing album art, i.e. images embedded inside of MP3 files - a feature that is vital particularly in podcasts.
