Motorola dumps Windows Mobile January 12, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Times are difficult and Motorola phones powered by Windows Mobile were not selling well enough apparently. What platform will Motorola use now for smartphones? It will be Google Android! Apparently Motorola is about to fire plenty of people already this week. Furthermore Motorola canceled their presence at CTIA event in April although for sure they are coming to Mobile World Congress in February as it is too huge a show not to come. Apparently due to firing plenty of people, the number of phones sold by Motorola will be reduced and number of platforms for smartphones too: to one and it will be Google Android. Motorola was making plenty of Windows Mobile phones and even last year they were releasing new models, but in this difficult times obviously Motorola thinks about short-time survival and not long-term profitability, so unfortunately Windows Mobile is getting dumped. Previously the rumor was that Motorola Q phones will be dumped, although some touch-screen based Windows Mobile phones will be still released. Now however it looks like all Windows Mobile phones are being dumped. To learn more, visit original source of this story about Motorola dumping Windows Mobile. Credit: Sherwin Zadeh.
