Microsoft launches MSN Mobile Music service in UK - with DRM ! January 24, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Here comes yet another proof how out-of-touch Microsoft employees are! After decision to release Windows Mobile 6.5 without multi-touch, they also decided to release new music service where users can buy music but this music is DRM-protected - in times when totally DRM-free music is available from Amazon and Apple (and even at cheaper prices that Microsoft offers for DRM-protected music!). Since competitors of Microsoft have built-in music service in their phones - Apple iPhone has iTunes mobile, Google Android and Palm Pre have Amazon MP3 service - obviously having music service, apart from having in-device app store, can be vital for success, but here Microsoft once again shows how clueless it is. British magazine has published an interview with Microsoft employee about this new music service and one has impression that this guy lives on the other planet: With the likes of iTunes and Amazon offering DRM-free music that you can play on any device, why would anyone choose the MSN Mobile service? There may well be people who just want to listen to the track on their mobile alone. They can do that with iTunes and Amazon. We will see what the outcome of this is. To get more information, visit interview with Microsoft about MSN Mobile Music service. Conclusion: Microsoft employees simply can't relate to real people. Microsoft once again makes huge mistakes that will turn away many customers from them. Credit: anonymous (submitted through news submission form).
