Review of Pantech Matrix Pro published March 14, 2009 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. These days most Windows Mobile phones are using touch screens, so it is refreshing to see that also some (few) Windows Mobile phones without touch screen are going on sale, like the Pantech Matrix Pro available at AT&T Wireless nowadays: The strongest drawback for the Matrix is the form factor. I like the concept of a dual keypad/keyboard, but it's hard to get around the thickness of the Matrix. If you have to have a dual keypad/keyboard device, I like the design of the H743 a little better. While thicker than most phones, I will give the Matrix credit in that after using it for a week, as with most things, you get used to it. On paper it's a heavy device, but the weight is well distributed and really isn't a factor. While I think the Matrix has its qualities, if were in the market for a Windows Mobile Standard phone, I'd lean towards the HTC S743. To learn more, read review of Pantech Matrix Pro. Conclusion: the dual-keyboard form factor is interesting and the size is small, but small display resolution and rather old-fashioned looks are not too convincing. There is a rumor that HTC Maple will be unveiled at CTIA next month for American carriers and then probably there will be even bigger choice for fans of Windows Mobile Standard phones (the ones without touch screen)....
