Venture of Sony Ericsson into the world of Windows Mobile was a big failure May 29, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. It is now not just us, who think so! Now not only many other publications agree (including the trade press in telecommunications area), but also next smartphone models from Sony Ericsson indicate it... While the sales figures of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - the first Windows Mobile phone of Sony Ericsson - are not publicly known, however many journos from the trade press seem to know: it has been selling very badly. Furthermore Sony Ericsson is now about to release new smartphones and none of them is powered by Windows Mobile! For example Sony Ericsson Satio smartphone that has HD display and is the first smartphone in the world with camera of resolution 12 megapixel. On top of that Sony Ericsson also announced that they are working on smartphones powered by Google Android. It is worth mentioning that we were present at the very first launch event of Sony Ericsson where shocked audience learned about their first Windows Mobile phone, but the phone was released with delay and it was just not appealing enough to broader public and overpriced. Furthermore competition in Windows Mobile area from HTC and Samsung made this phone look outdated. Sony Ericsson is now in trouble and the reality is that it has no bright future - as of now. Smartphone markets however are still tiny compared to regular cellphone markets, so current poor results of Sony Ericsson cannot be blamed on their decision to use Windows Mobile though...
