Do not buy Nokia N97, or any other Nokia ... because Symbian sinks like Titanic! June 02, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Nokia is rolling out this month their "flagship" phone called "Nokia N97" but what is going on inside of Nokia? Panic on Titanic! Read on... Nokia management can be compared easily to politburo of Soviet Union: they don't pay attention to what people are saying. For God's sake they don't even pay attention to what their local (Finnish) analysts are saying! So what is the main problem of Nokia smartphones? "It's the software, stupid". Yes! Nokia's Symbian operating system is outdated and nothing but primitive. Nokia corporation simply does not have talented and skilled enough employees to write appealing software... and in the era of smartphones software is the most important thing. The new strategy of Nokia will place even more focus on software. They plan not only for handsets alone but a separate division has been established to roll out the new generation of Internet services. The problem however is such that Nokia has been facing problems developing software since the very time they entered the smartphone business and so they steadily lose their market share to players like HTC, Apple and Android. The new strategy gives no answers to how fundamentals of Nokia software will be improved so that not only their handset will become appealing and competitive but also the company will be able to attract a significant number of users as well as developers to enjoy services to be offered. Lack of such answer so far is perhaps well documented but the launch of the Nokia application store dubbed ovi (or "doors" in Finnish) a few days back, which has generated a lot of negative comments on the Internet for little appeal and performance problems the service embeds - further proves it. Nokia N97, not only has an archaic primitive operating system (Symbian) but it also has no real innovations, yet CEO claims in internal meetings that everything is super! Apart from that, internally within Nokia, employees of Symbian S60 division are fleeing like rats from sinking ship towards Linux division (that was making tablets and is now cooking next smartphones). Conclusion: Nokia's Symbian has no future and Nokia's Linux is non-standard (not compatible with Google Android) so one wold have to be stupid to buy Nokia N97 ... or any other Nokia smartphone for that matter! Note: If you really need superb phone with touchscreen, keyboard and tilted display, then buy HTC Touch Pro2 powered by Windows Mobile!
