Review: ExtUSB (miniUSB) to 3.5 mm stereo converter from Proporta July 05, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Since many Windows Mobile phones from HTC don't offer 3.5 mm stereo miniplug, but only a proprietary ext-USB headset connector, there is a need for a converter or adaptor... While also HTC is making such adaptors, you might consider also adaptors made by other companies. We are reviewing here "enhanced mini USB stereo adaptor" from Proporta that is "Designed in Europe" and "Made in China". It is very small and comfortable to use. Here is how it looks like when it is packaged in the store:
On the other side you can see that lifetime warranty is offered on this converter:
Here is how it looks like when connected to an HTC phone:
Interestingly Proporta - makers of this adaptor - are not mentioning HTC's name of their miniUSB connector which is "extUSB". Instead they just use "mini USB" name although indeed it is a proprietary format of HTC. Conclusion: this adaptor from Proporta, that is available online in many stores as well as at some electronics stores at airports, is very small and very handy. While HTC should put 3.5 mm stereo miniplug in all their phones and there is no excuse not to put it, this adaptor might be helpful. Of course it doesn't solve the problem of simultaneous charging and listening (for that HTC is offering their own, bigger adaptor) but it is very tiny and very comfortable to use. Note: since we are not affiliated with any online store and we don't have agenda, we don't offer links to specific stores. To get this adaptor, please just look around at your favorite stores!
