For developers: Microsoft updated Requirements Document for Marketplace and Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 July 24, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. Earlier yesterday Microsoft made available an updated document of requirements for the Windows Mobile Marketplace. The most significant changes in this updated document are ... ... centered around Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1. As you know it was only recently that Microsoft announced that 6.0 and 6.1 would be supported in the Marketplace. The most significant changes are test cases that Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 must pass plus requirements for applications that use GAPI, the gaming API that predates DirectX, became deprecated as of Windows Mobile 5, and an optional component (meaning an OEM may decide to leave it out) as of Windows Mobile 6.5. Note: still no OpenGL ES in Windows Mobile. There is a rumor, that Windows Mobile 7 will have Open GL ES 2.0 but in meantime game developers will have to work with Microsoft technologies like DirectX and GAPI. To learn more visit, the page wit the statement that Steve Bell (Sr. Product Manager at Microsoft) made about the document and more commentary about this update.
