Fennec Alpha 3 for Windows Mobile released and it is smooth like a fox - we tested! September 04, 2009 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Unlike other sites that just scrounge Internet and don't actually verify news stories, we have tested this version of Fennec:
... and it works many times better than previous ones! It is smooth, swinging the finger left and right leads to menus, it has plugins, and, incredibly, it also shows rounded corners when we tested it on our site (these rounded corners are visible only in FireFox and Webkit-based browsers)! Shortly speaking: at last the development of Fennec for Windows Mobile has moved ahead and it is starting to look like a good, fluid mobile browser. Note that iPhone app store does not allow 3rd party browsers, but only apps that use Apple's browser control, so iPhone will never get Fennec but Windows Mobile already has it and every Windows Mobile user should try it: We’re very happy to announce the availability of Fennec Alpha 3 for Windows Mobile. There are lots of great features and fixes included in this release. You can find the release notes here and a cab installer here. Personally, I’m turning off my iPhone to switch to a Windows Mobile device with Fennec. But wait, there’s more! If you’re running a phone other than the HTC Touch Pro, you’ll notice we now support a wider range of screen resolutions through the use of CSS media queries, which really show’s the power of our XUL based front end. Note: name "Fennec" comes from a name of small fox and it indicates browsers for mobile devices based on FireFox technology.
