Amazon USA offers HTC Pure for 1 cent plus 24 months of misery
October 15, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R.

While in some countries in EU it is forbidden to advertise mobile phones as "free" or "costs only one euro" if they are sold in combination with a contract, in USA still many people are confused and don't mention the monthly fee at all, and focus only on the one-off fee.

While HTC Pure (a HTC Touch Diamond2 rebranded for AT&T Wireless) indeed is available for 1 cent, subscribers have to pay at least 40 dollars for 2 years...

Description of HTC pure:

Delivering a touchscreen experience in an alluring, compact form factor, the HTC PURE smartphone from AT&T keeps you connected with friends, business partners and world events with its ultra-fast HSDPA 3G cellular connectivity and the revamped Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. It intelligently arranges your conversations by people, not by the application that you use to communicate with them. So when looking at your contacts, you can now see a history of your conversations in whatever form it took place, quickly and easily--even Facebook updates.

Stay connected with friends, business partners and world events wherever you roam with the sleek, touchscreen-enabled HTC PURE smartphone with the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.

Download applications and games from Windows Marketplace for Mobile as well as AT&T's Appcenter.

The PURE's high-resolution 3.2-inch touchscreen has a built-in accelerometer that flips the orientation of the screen based on how you hold the phone, and it includes full QWERTY keyboard in both vertical and horizontal modes. The phone features an advanced 5-megapixel camera to take stills or videos, plus the camera can take panoramic pictures and even geo-tag pictures with the integrated GPS location capabilities.

The updated Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system includes a revamped Internet Explorer Mobile web browser and the ability to see alerts even if you're on a call or have password-protected your phone.
