New patent for HTC user interface November 02, 2009 [General] | By Edward J. R. HTC has patented virtual book concept, which clearly copies some aspects of Palm webOS. This could be HTC's next version of Touch Flo 3D and Touch Sense: To learn more, visit related story virtual book patent of HTC. Note: we are focusing here on software for cellphones made by Microsoft or 3rd party apps for Microsoft's mobile operating systems, so we are not covering in big depth overlays on top of Windows Mobile like HTC Sense, etc. Commentary: clearly HTC wants to differentiate itself from the competition and on their both platforms: Android and Windows Mobile - they are putting their own overlays and improvements. We are not big fans of such overlays and we prefer to switch them off. However we know that many people like them a lot, so we are reporting about them sometimes... and since innovation pace at Microsoft is very slow... it is good to see that HTC is innovating.
