No Windows Mobile 7 at CES 2010, Microsoft CEO says it will be announced at Mobile World Congress 2010!
January 07, 2010 [General] | By Edward J. R.
In the CES 2010 keynote few hours ago Steve Ballmer said "We'll have a lot more to say about phones next month at Mobile World Congress." so now it is 100% certain that Windows Mobile 7 will be announced in Barcelona, EU, during Mobile World Congress 2010 event.
Since Microsoft withdrew from participation in sessions of conference part of Mobile World Congress 2010, we thought that Micorosoft has withdrawn from Mobile World Congress 2010, but actually the opposite of Microsoft withdrawing from Mobile World Congress is happening.
So, we've managed to make fools of ourselves yet again. Anyway, here are some highlights from the CES 2010 keynote:
- the only real Windows Mobile news item was that HTC HD2 is coming to T-Mobile USA
- Mediaroom app for Windows Mobile running on HTC HD2 was shown
- Robbie Bach was there, but was focusing on Xbox - success in games area and announcement that next-generation user interface "Natal" is coming this year to all Xbox owners (Natal allows you to control Xbox with your body, without any controller in your hand or on your body); clearly Robbie Bach, who is boss of both Xbox and Windows Mobile, is not taking responsibility for failures of Windows Mobile
- Windows 7 PCs in slate form factor were shown - to preempt unveiling of iSlate (Apple's tablet) later this month
- generally success of Windows 7 and Xbox was discussed, Windows Mobile was not featured too much
