HTC Trophy - good photo available - first touchscreen phone with single-handed QWERTY from HTC January 30, 2010 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Update: it is just a computer generated rendering made by one of Windows Mobile fans - see comments to this news item for more. Previously HTC was not doing this form factor at all, because it was getting OEM-manufacturing orders from big brands like Palm and HP, but since these orders dried out, HTC is releasing this year the HTC Trophy:
... that has exactly this what was missing: ... i.e. a phone that has both: a front-facing QWERTY keyboard for single-handed usage and a touch-screen - at the same time. Previously HTC making such phones but without touchscreen. Note that we were chatting in person, one on one, with CEO of HTC few years ago and he said then that HTC has no such phones in roadmap but obviously the market situation has changed, so HTC will be releasing it this year. Good times for Windows Mobile fans! The only remaining questions that remain: will it be powered by Windows Mobile 7 or Windows Mobile 6.6? Will it have capacitive display? Will it have camera with autofocus? Note: the rule of thumb is nowadays that physical QWERTY keyboards are not needed because having capacitive display is better and enables even faster typing... but if you are one of those old timers that like tactile feedback (real one, and not just vibrations) then this phone might be ideal for you!
