No serious mobile gaming in next Windows Mobile February 02, 2010 [General] | By Edward J. R. Zune services - yes. Multitouch - yes. New user interface to make things look fancier - yes. Proper support for mobile gaming - no. At least (former) main blogger of Microsoft thinks so, because he got such information from his friends at Microsoft: (Microsoft has moved many top executives and engineers over to a new team designed to compete more effectively with Apple’s iPhone). One problem: I’m hearing from employees who work inside these teams that the political will to really develop a good Xbox-playing smartphone isn’t there. If that’s true, look for Microsoft to remain shut out of the battlefield and to remain a loser in the mobile space. To learn more, read read related story how Microsoft can be victim of collateral damage because of Google. Commentary: Microsoft is 3 years behind iPhone. Google is developing rapidly in the area of Android and offers more and more fantastic services based on cloud computing (voice control of user interface, free GPS navigation, reading your thoughts). Apple prepares ultra cool new iPhone for July that will have 1GHz processor and will be so cool, that air will freeze nearby. And what is Microsoft doing? Just adding Zune services to Windows Mobile and putting new fancy schmancy user interface on it. However gaming - the very reason why iPhone is successful and Google's focus in latest versions of Android phones - is once again being neglected by Microsoft. And that's from company that sells cool gaming console (Xbox)! We can't fathom that.
